Honors Galore

I have been inducted into the Ancient and Hermetic Order of the Shrill. The Esteemed Order of the Shrill is limited to those who were once sane, fair, and balanced, but who have been driven into shrill unholy madness by one or more of the mendacity, malevolence, incompetence, or simple disconnection from reality of the George W. Bush administration.

To all who shall see these hallowed greetings, presents:

More Vets Join The Order

It isn't just the powerful and famous. Vets fresh from the front lines are joining in droves. Blogger buggieboy is one them, and now one of us:

"This U.S. Army website discusses terrorism in a realistic manner, showing that Al Queda is not the only enemy we face and that 9/11 "changed the world" only for the uninformed. Any national security professionals that didn't realize the danger of terrorism before 9/11 are incompetent and should not be given responsibility for our defense. This includes the entire Bush administration team."

His resume lists the 101st Airborne Division, the Second Infantry Division, and the 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment. Does it list the Shrill Boat Veterans for Truth?

I don't know why they thought I was "fresh from the front" but I am pretty fresh. :) I'm not famous. But now that I am in the "Order" I am powerful (Lefty, your dark imperial overlord title has some competition).

Wow, that is an interesting story.

And it is totally, undeniably not true.

It is amazing how backwards things are these days, when the guy that went to Vietnam and won a silver star (among other things) has to defend his military record against the guy who avoided Vietnam altogether. You even say "his obvious objective was to... serve as short a time as possible, and escape Vietnam unscathed but with sufficient credentials and decorations to portray himself in heroic terms." Yes, that was the goal. To serve in combat, get a silver star, and maybe die in combat so that 35 years later in a campaign he can play the hero. Of course even if this ridiculous notion is true it doesn't change the fact that he served in combat, and if he was able to convince these mysterious co-conspirators to help him get undeserved awards then that says a lot for his people skills, doesn't it?

BTW, this was on another comment, but I'll repeat it:

"Our examination found that existing documentation regarding the Silver Star, Bronze Star and Purple Heart medals indicates the awards approval process was properly followed," Vice Adm. R.A. Route, the Navy inspector general, wrote in the memo sent Friday to Navy Secretary Gordon England.

"In particular, the senior officers who awarded the medals were properly delegated authority to do so. In addition, we found that they correctly followed the procedures in place at the time for approving these awards."

Route concluded that there was no justification for looking further into the decisions to award the medals.

"Our review also considered the fact that Senator Kerry's post-active duty activities were public and that military and civilian officials were aware of his actions at the time. For these reasons, I have determined that Senator Kerry's awards were properly approved and will take no further action in this matter."

But, you know, the Navy is a partisan leftist organization and Adm. Route is probably a lying liberal democrat. Apparently this conspiracy to portray cowardly Kerry as a combat veteran includes the Navy inspector general.

And the fact that Bush didn't take his physical and was removed from flight status is all a conspiracy and a product of CBS and Dan Rather - despite the fact that Bush has admitted it.

Welcome to 1984. You should work at the Ministry of Truth, Vrangel. Is your real name "Winston?"

Roy Hoffmann is running a little short on credibility these days. Is there anyone corroborating his claims? factcheck.org has been pretty critical of Kerry of late, but they're backing his version on this one.
